Best Online Yoga Classes in the UK: What to Look For

Not all online yoga is built the same, and for UK students specifically, timing matters as much as teaching quality. Here's what to actually look for.

Searching for online yoga classes in the UK turns up a lot of options, and most of them fall into the same two categories: a huge recorded video library you work through alone, or a live class scheduled for a US or Indian time zone that happens to be the middle of the night in London. Neither is actually what most people are looking for.

Here's what genuinely matters when choosing between online yoga classes in the UK, and what to check before you commit to one.

Live Beats Recorded, But Only If the Timing Actually Works

A live class means an instructor can see your form and correct it — the same feedback you'd get in a studio. That's a real advantage over a video library. But it only matters if the class is actually happening at a time you can join. A platform with brilliant live instruction scheduled for 7 AM Eastern Time is a 12 PM GMT class — fine. The same platform's 10 PM Eastern class is 3 AM GMT — not realistic for anyone with a normal UK schedule.

Before choosing a platform, convert every class time to GMT (or BST during summer) yourself. Don't assume "live" automatically means "convenient."

Certification That Actually Means Something

Yoga Alliance certification (RYT-200 or RYT-500) is the most widely recognized standard, and it's worth checking for specifically rather than assuming "certified instructor" means the same thing everywhere — standards vary a lot between platforms, and some use the word loosely.

Class Size

A platform advertising "live classes" with 50+ students in a session isn't offering much more correction than a recorded video would. Smaller group sizes — ideally under 15 — are what actually let an instructor notice and fix your form issues in real time.

Beginner-Specific Pacing

A lot of "all levels" classes quietly mean "intermediate, but we won't turn beginners away." If you're new, look specifically for classes labeled and paced for beginners, not just classes that technically allow you to join.

What This Looks Like at Namho Yogis

Namho Yogis teaches live online yoga with Yoga Alliance-certified instructors trained in Rishikesh, India, in small groups with real beginner-paced options. The honest caveat for UK students specifically: classes are currently scheduled across US time zones (EST, CST, PST), so not every slot converts well to GMT — check the current schedule against your own time zone before booking, since some slots land in the late morning or afternoon UK time and work well, while others fall in the early hours and won't.
